Workshops for Schools

The Early Music Man

Tudor Tunes and Dances

A seventy-five minute workshop mainly for Primary schools in which the Early Music Man demonstrates Tudor instruments and teaches one or two Tudor dances. Pupils also have the opportunity to perform some Tudor music and songs. A free workpack is available through the internet and contains notes on the instruments, a wordsearch, a quiz, songs and music. A free CD with the songs and music for the workshop is also sent out - this is to help non music specialist class teachers teach the children the music and songs. Performance of the songs and music in the workshop is optional.

GCSE Renaissance Dance Music

A seventy-five minute workshop for GCSE music students concentrating on the Pavan and Galliard, instruments of the time, modes and divisions. Parts can be downloaded for students to perform Renaissance music in their class, plus worksheets on modes, divisions, Renaissance Dances and instruments.

A workshop on "Tudor Dances" only, where students just concentrate on learning to dance several Tudor dances, can also be arranged. This is suitable for PE and Performing Arts students.
